Who We Serve
Hope Health Network works with parents and caregivers involved with the South Carolina Department of Social Services (DSS) who need substance use treatment, behavioral health care, or primary care establishment as part of a reunification or safety plan. When a family is in the child welfare system, timely access to documented treatment can make the difference between reunification and prolonged separation.
We understand the urgency of these cases. Our goal is to get patients into treatment quickly and provide the documentation that DSS caseworkers and family court judges need to assess parental engagement and progress.
Substance Use Treatment for Reunification
Hope Addiction Medicine provides medication-assisted treatment with compliance reporting that meets DSS documentation standards. Our reports include urine drug screen results, attendance records, treatment plans, and provider attestation of participation. Our documentation has helped families demonstrate to family court judges that they are engaged in evidence-based treatment. We prescribe buprenorphine, Sublocade monthly injection, and naltrexone for opioid and alcohol use disorders.
Behavioral Health Documentation
Hope Behavioral Medicine provides psychiatric evaluations and treatment for anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other conditions that may be required by DSS safety plans. Our licensed counselors provide individual therapy with documentation provided upon patient authorization. Mental health stabilization is frequently a component of DSS case plans, and timely access to a psychiatric provider can accelerate the reunification timeline.
Primary Care for Families
Hope Medical Associates establishes a medical home for parents who may not have had a regular doctor. Chronic disease management, wellness exams, and general medical care demonstrate to DSS that the parent is addressing their overall health — an important signal of stability and self-care capacity.
For DSS Caseworkers
Call (843) 737-0312 and ask for our referral coordinator. We can discuss the specific documentation your case requires, explain our compliance reporting workflow, and are often able to schedule the parent within a week. Please note that substance use treatment records are protected by 42 CFR Part 2 and require the patient's written consent before we can share information with DSS — we facilitate this consent process at intake.
